Six curved steel plates form the primary element of a scenographic installation that presents a spatial, bodily, and interactive audiovisual stage. The installation has been developed in collaboration with the electronic music duo Kenton Slash Demon in a joint ambition to create a visual experience based on their audio-cosmos characterized by fundamental rhythms, distinct distortions, and skewed modulations. Their soundscape is equally futuristic and organic and forms the conceptual idea behind the project.
In the late 19th century, steel structures represented the cornerstone of an architectural revolution and shaped – for that time – futuristic buildings which broke all boundaries of architectural possibilities. Inspired by the music of Kenton Slash Demons, steel plates are animated with an organic character rather than the solid character which they usually are associated with. The installation examines how an intuitively static object can be turned into a dynamic element, by exploring the inherent – and architecturally commonly overlooked – potentials of steel.
With Kenton Slash Demon’s peculiar sounds as genesis, the qualities of steel plates are utilized in a curious interplay between distortions and modulations. The steel plates are attached to vertical frames, warped into in a curved shape and utilized as reflective surfaces which, through their curvature, deflect the rays of light in rather unpredictable directions. In addition to a large number of LEDs, each plate is connected to a microchip which unites light and sound creating in an audiovisual interchange based on rhythms and intensities.
Once, the steel plate seemed futuristic. Today, it is a standardized product used primarily due to its constructive qualities. The scenography explores its visual potentials. Based on these and in interaction with modern technology, the plates are transformed into organically dancing elements.
The project is made in collaboration with Kim Lenschow Architecture, Kenton Slash Demon and electrical engineers Mathias Kirkegaard and Mathias Bredholt.

Seks krumme stålplader udgør det primære element i en scenografisk installation, der udfolder en rumlig, kropslig og interaktiv audiovisuel forestilling. Installationen er udviklet i samarbejde med den elektroniske musikduo Kenton Slash Demon i en fælles ambition om at skabe en visuel verden, der bygger videre på deres lydunivers kendetegnet ved fundamentale rytmer, tydelige forvrængninger og skæve moduleringer. Deres lydbillede er lige dele futuristisk og organisk, og skaber grundlag projektets hovedgreb.
I slutningen af det 19. århundrede lagde stålkonstruktioner fundamentet for en arkitektonisk revolution og skabte – for sin tid – futuristiske bygningsværker, der brød med alle rammer for, hvad der var konstruktivt muligt. Inspireret af Kenton Slash Demons musik tilegnes stålpladerne en organisk karakter snarere end den bestandige karakter, der ofte er forbundet med dem i nutidig brug. Installationen undersøger, hvordan et umiddelbart statisk objekt kan gøres til dynamisk aktør, ved at udforske stålets iboende – og arkitektonisk generelt oversete – potentialer.
Med Kenton Slash Demons særegne lyd som udgangspunkt, udnyttes stålpladernes kvaliteter i et nysgerrigt samspil mellem forvrængninger og moduleringer. Stålpladerne spændes op på lodrette stativer i en buet form og bruges som reflekterende flader, der gennem deres krumning afbøjer lysets stråler i delvist uforudsigelige retninger. Foruden en lang række lysdioder er hver plade forbundet til mikrochip, der forener lys og lyd og skaber en audiovisuel interaktion baseret på rytmer og intensiteter.
Stålpladen syntes tidligere futuristisk. I dag er den et standardiseret produkt, der primært bruges grundet dets konstruktive kvaliteter. Scenografien undersøger dens visuelle potentialer. Med udgangspunkt i disse og i samspil med moderne teknologi transformeres pladerne til organisk dansede elementer.
